Face to Face
This drawing did not win any rave reviews from the horse's owner. This mare has far more delicate features than those depicted here, and she is quite pretty. I did not intend to depict her as homely as she appears here. But she was a willing model.

This drawing was designed around the foreshortening of the head to make the nose as large as possible.

Ultimately, the drawing is all about the size of horses. (The original is bigger than lifesize.) Even small horses are big when they get right in your face.
